Life

Rapallo learned the profession of primary school teacher at the teacher training college in Zug and started drawing cartoons as a part-time job, and since 1976 full-time. These were published regularly in various magazines, including a. in Nebelspalter , in Spiegel , in Stern , in Bunte , in the Swiss youth , in Schweizer Illustrierte , in Züritipp or in Brückenbauer . From 1979 Rapallo began to work for Swiss television (including the shows Karussell and Fass ).

His works could be viewed in Holland (own studio in Amsterdam), in the Arton A gallery in Stockholm, QT-PTEC in Zug and in the Villa Val Lemme in Capriata d'Orba, Italy. In 2001 Rapallo designed two 70 centimes postage stamps for the Principality of Liechtenstein.

The focus of his work was mostly on humans and animals, which had to be used as projection objects for the often absurd human behavior. Most of Rapallo's painting and later also working with sculptures was self-taught. His preferred style was always the fantastic, surreal and expressionistic.

In August 2005 Rapallo disappeared while taking a walk on Grenchenberg . On May 25, 2006 he was found dead in Bettlach SO . The circumstances of his death are unclear. The police assumed suicide or an accident.
