Raphaël Tellechea (born May 4, 1930 in Drancy , † November 10, 2008 in Alès ) was a French football player .

Career

The 169 centimeter tall defensive midfielder Tellechea, who was born in 1930 as the brother of the later national player Joseph Tellechea, who was four years his senior , first played in his youth at clubs from La Courneuve and Saint-Denis in the banlieue of the French capital Paris . He then joined another suburb club with the Stade de l'Est from Les Pavillons-sous-Bois , before moving to the first division club FC Sochaux in 1949 and thus making the leap into professional football . With the Eastern French, he took at a time when substitutions and substitutions were not yet possible, the role of a supplementary player and was called up sporadically in the first team. In 1951 he was given to the second division club CA Paris for a year and was an integral part of the first team at the capital club until he returned to Sochaux in 1952.

After returning to Sochaux, he became a regular in a team that took second place in the league table in 1953 and won the first edition of the second-tier cup competition Coupe Charles Drago in the same year . The following seasons over he remained mostly part of the first team, where he played throughout his time in Sochaux at the side of his brother Joseph. He remained loyal to the club for a long time and made it to the national cup final in 1959 with the team . In the final he was not on the field and experienced a 2-2 of his comrades against Le Havre AC , which made a replay necessary. In just that, he received the trust of coaches Gabriel Dormois and Paul Wartel , but he missed a possible title win by a 3-0 defeat. In October 1959 he was given to the second division Olympique Alès , with which he turned his back on Sochaux after a decade.

At Alès he was part of a team that found itself in the midfield of the second division. In 1960 he left the club again and found a new employer in league rivals Olympique Marseille . He belonged to the first team in most cases and was involved in promotion to the first division in 1962. This was followed by his last year in the major division, which ended in 1963 with relegation as bottom of the table. At this time, the then 33-year-old ended his professional career after 231 first division games with 15 goals and 103 second division games with five goals.
