Auxiliary Bishop Raphael Thattil

Raphael Thattil (born April 21, 1956 in Thrissur , India ) is an Indian clergyman and Syro-Malabar bishop of Shamshabad .

Life

Raphael Thattil received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Trichur on December 21, 1980 .

On January 15, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . the titular bishop of Buruni and ordered him auxiliary bishop in Trichur. The Archbishop of Trichur, Andrews Thazhath , gave him the episcopate on April 10th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Palghat , Jacob Manathodath , and the Archbishop Emeritus of Trichur, Jacob Thoomkuzhy .

On 11 January 2014 it appointed Pope Francis to the apostolic visitor for Syro-Malabar Christians in India, outside the traditional territory of the Großerzbistums Ernakulam-Angamaly live.

With the establishment of the Shamshabad Eparchy on October 10, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him its first diocesan bishop . The inauguration took place on January 7, 2018.
