Beginnings
From 2005 to 2007 Sundstedt played in the youth division of Stockholm IBF . After two years in Stockholm, the then 19-year-old moved to Odelberg IBK in the second division. In 24 games he scored 34 goals and 36 assists. In 2008 his path led to the first division club Caperiotäby FC in the Svenska Superligan , where he developed into a top player. In the 2011/12 season he scored 40 goals in 26 games and played 13 assists.
Change and championship title
In 2012 Sundstedt moved from Caperiotäby FC to Storvreta IBK for a record transfer sum of 500,000 SEK (around 57,000 CHF ), this record was only set in 2016 by Kim Nilsson . Due to the dominance of IBF Falun , he was initially unable to win a title despite strong performances in the Superligan. It was not until the 2015/16 season, in which Storvreta IBK came third after qualifying, that the team from close to Uppsala was able to eliminate all opponents in the playoffs and win the title.
Career jump
After the successful season at Storvreta, Sundstedt decided to change. Numerous rumors said that HC Rychenberg Winterthur was interested in the Swedish international. On April 19, 2016, Winterthur announced the transfer of the Swede. The Sundstedt goals helped Rychenberg Winterthur make it into the cup final. On February 25, 2017 he stood with the HCR in Bern's Wankdorfhalle. Shortly before the end of the game, Sundstedt played a bad pass in a game with six field players, which gave the Grasshopper Club an empty netter. Shortly afterwards he scored the connection goal with a remarkable hit, which in the end no longer helped his team. The HCR lost the cup final 8: 7.
On June 26, 2017, HC Rychenberg announced the contract extension with the offensive player. It will therefore remain with the Winterthur team in the 2017/18 season. For HC Rychenberg Winterthur, Rasmus Sundstedt completed 51 games in which he was able to score 69 points.
Storvreta IBK
After the 2017/18 season, Sundstedt moved back to his former employer Storvreta IBK from Sweden. He signed a 2-year contract with an option for another season.
National team
With the U19 national team he won the 2007 World Cup gold. In the tournament he achieved seven scorer points (2/5) in five games. In 2010 he made his debut for the men's national team, with which he finally won silver at the 2010 World Cup in Helsinki . Sundstedt was the second best scorer of the tournament with eight goals and nine assists behind the Swiss Matthias Hofbauer . In 2012 and 2014 he won the World Cup with Sweden.
With the national team, he has participated in four world championships so far and won two gold and two silver medals. Sundstedt is used in the national team on the position of the defender as well as on the position of the striker.
