The town hall of Ellingen in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen is located in the city center at the intersection of Weißenburger Straße / Schlossstraße. The building with the address Weißenburger Straße 1 is registered under the monument number D-5-77-125-111 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list.

The late baroque building was built from 1744 to 1747 by the Teutonic Order based on plans by Franz Joseph Roth , a plasterer and master builder. It originally contained the higher court administration of the Landkomturei Ellingen. It also contained a pharmacy, a meeting room, writing rooms, a community room and a prison.

There was a pillory on the southwest corner of the building .

In 1794 renovations took place according to plans by Balthasar Gaab . The interior was renovated from 1860 to 1861. The two-storey mansard roof structure has a bell tower on the roof .

The building has a central projection and a front staircase on the south side . The rococo statues on the facade were made by Friedrich Maucher and Johann Peter Wagner . After the bombing in World War II , during which the building was partly badly damaged, it was reconstructed in 1950.
