Rautenkranz (Eisenach)
The former Hotel Rautenkranz is a listed building in the center of the independent city of Eisenach in Thuringia . Next to the town hall it is the administrative seat of the Eisenach city administration.

The building with the address Markt 22 is located on the north side of the Eisenach market square next to the city palace and extends north along Badergasse to Alexanderstraße.
history
The Hotel Rautenkranz was first mentioned in writing in 1611. The building got its present form in 1904 when it was rebuilt in the neo-renaissance style according to a design by the architect Hubert Holtmann from Münster .
Albert Jordan ran the hotel from 1920 to 1953. Previously, among other things, he was director of the Berlin Hotel Adlon . During this time the Hotel Rautenkranz was able to welcome numerous well-known guests such as Erich Ludendorff , Henny Porten , Hans Albers , Heinrich George , Rosalind von Schirach and Dorothea Wieck . In 1942 the hotel was shut down due to the war and the building was used as a hospital for a while. The hotel was reopened in 1946, the first guest book entry after the end of the war was dated July 10, 1946. In 1953 the hotel was finally closed, the operator and his family fled to Bad Ems with his family from the GDR regime .
The former hotel has been used as an administrative building since 1956, initially by the council of the Eisenach district , later by the district office of the Wartburg district and currently by the Eisenach city administration, and today it houses, among other things, the city's citizens' office and the city's environmental office as well as the city council's meeting room.
