Raymond Matthew Neufeld (born April 15, 1959 in Saint-Boniface , Manitoba ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . During his career, he played 595 games in the National Hockey League for the Hartford Whalers , Winnipeg Jets and Boston Bruins between 1979 and 1990 . His position was the right wing .

Career

Ray Neufeld began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League , in which he was active from 1976 to 1979 for the Flin Flon Bombers and Edmonton Oil Kings . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1979 in the fourth round as a total of 81 players by the Hartford Whalers .

For the Whalers, he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 1979/80 season . In his rookie year , the attacker scored two goals in a total of ten games for the Whalers before he was given to the Winnipeg Jets on November 21, 1985 in exchange for Dave Babych . After three years in which he had a regular place with the Canadians, they transferred him on December 30, 1988 for Moe Lemay to the Boston Bruins . With the Bruins he was until the end of his active career in 1990 on the ice, where he played only one game in the NHL for the Bruins in the 1989/90 season . Instead, he played for their farm team , the Maine Mariners , in the American Hockey League , where he scored 56 points in 76 games.
