Raymond J. Bear

Raymond Julius Baer (born May 23, 1959 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss bank manager . He is currently Chairman of the Boards of Directors of Alpine Select AG and Longbow Finance SA as well as a member of the Board of Directors of AMAG Automobil- und Motoren AG and Honorary Chairman of Julius Baer Group AG .

Life

Raymond Baer is the great-grandson of the founder of Bank Julius Baer , the German - Swiss banker Julius Baer , his father was Hans J. Baer . He studied law at the University of St. Gallen until 1984 and received his licentiate . He then completed his studies in New York at Columbia Law School as a Master of Laws (LL.M.).

From 1985 to 1988 he worked for Salomon Brothers Inc. in New York and London before moving to Bank Julius Baer & Co. AG in 1988 . Initially, he headed the Swiss issues division from the Zurich branch, and from 1989 he worked as a branch manager for the bank in New York.

From 1993 to 1995 he was a member of the management with responsibility for branch offices, marketing and central accounting. In 1996 he became a member of the Executive Committee. From 1998 to 2003 he was Vice President of the Executive Committee with responsibility for the private banking business. From 2003 to 2012 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bank Julius Baer & Co. AG as well as of Julius Baer Holding AG (until 2009) and of Julius Baer Group AG (since 2009). Raymond Baer has been Honorary Chairman of Julius Baer Group Ltd. and Bank Julius Baer & Co. Ltd. since 2012.

In April 2013, Raymond Bär was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of the investment company Alpine Select AG. In addition, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of AMAG Automobil- und Motoren AG since July 2014 and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Longbow Finance SA since January 2015.

In addition to these activities, Raymond Bär has been involved in numerous committees. Among other things, he was President of the Association of Swiss Commercial and Administrative Banks from 2003 to 2012 and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Bankers Association from 1999 to 2012 . He was a member of the Regulatory Board of the SIX Swiss Exchange in 1999 and 2000. He was also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Swiss Finance Institute from 2005 to 2012 . Raymond Bär has been President of the Board of Trustees of the BENECARE Foundation, Liechtenstein, since July 2015.
