Raymond St. Jacques

Raymond St. Jacques (born March 1, 1930 in Hartford (Connecticut) , † August 27, 1990 in Los Angeles ) was an American actor .

Live and act

He began his professional career in the 1940s as an assistant director, fencing teacher and small actor at the American Shakespeare Festival in Stratford . He traveled with touring stages and came to New York in the early 1950s. It was here that the black actor made his off- Broadway debut in December 1954 on High Name Today . In June 1959 he made his Broadway debut in Romeo and Juliet and continued his education at the Actors Studio .

He has been a film actor since 1963, initially in supporting supporting roles. His most significant role at the time was that of the vicious Haitian secret service chief in The Comedians' Hour . In the late 1960s and early 1970s, St. Jacques regularly starred in films aimed at black audiences. In crime novels and film dramas, which mostly took place in big cities, he played both villains and police officers and FBI agents in serious roles. In 1977 he was in I am the boss as a civil rights activist Martin Luther King .
