Originally, the company was headquartered in Jeff's apartment in Alphabet City, Manhattan, New York . The first big project was to create a small $ 20,000 website for the New York Botanical Society. This order was placed by Time Warner's Pathfinder business unit . A few months later, Razorfish hired three new employees and moved to an office on Broadway . In 1999, Razorfish acquired the system integrator i-Cube (International Integration Inc.) set up by Michael Pehl for 677 million US dollars in order to be able to assert itself better in the international market environment through increased technological expertise. The company expanded abroad from 2005 to 2007 through acquisitions in London , Paris, Sydney , Hong Kong , Shanghai , Beijing , Berlin , Frankfurt am Main , Singapore and a joint venture in Tokyo . Razorfish started doing business in India in 2013 through the acquisition of Neev Technologies. Razorfish Neev was based in Bangalore and provided outsourced solutions for product and application development.

In October 2016, Razorfish merged with the SapientNitro division, a sister company of the Publicis Groupe, the Sapient Corporation to become SapientRazorfish.

In July 2018, Publicis announced that it would phase out SapientRazorfish and integrate its employees into Publicis.Sapient.

Publicis announced on February 13, 2019 that Publicis.Sapient, SapientRazorfish and Sapient Consulting had become the Publicis Sapient brand. This is headed by CEO Nigel Vaz.
