The Talghar ( Kazakh Талғар ) is a left tributary of the Ili in southeast Kazakhstan .
The Talghar arises at the confluence of its source rivers Left Talghar and Right Talghar on the northern slope of the Transili-Alatau . It leaves the mountains and flows through the city of the same name Talghar in a northerly direction. Its course of the river continues north and ends on the south bank of the Qapshaghai reservoir . The Talghar has a length of 117 km. Its catchment area covers 444 km². The mean discharge at the Talghar gauge is 10.6 m³ / s.
The Left Talghar is fed by the Konsmumuu Glacier . It flows in a northerly direction through the Transili-Alatau and unites with the Right Talghar to the Talghar.
The Right Talghar is fed by the Memallurg Glacier . It initially flows north, but then turns to the northwest. The Middle Talghar meets him on the left. Finally, the right talghar unites with the left talghar to form the talghar.
The Middle Talghar is fed by the Schokalsk Glacier . It flows in a northerly direction along the western flank of Pik Talgar , the highest peak of the Transili-Alatau, until it meets the Right Talghar flowing to the northwest.
