Red Light Special is a song by the US girl group TLC and their second single from their second music album CrazySexyCool . The release as a single took place on February 21, 1995. The song became a chart success, among other things, the song reached number 2 on the American Billboard Hot 100 . The song became TLC's fifth top 10 single in the United States . The song was also awarded a gold record in the United States . The song reached number 3 on the Hot R & B / Hip-Hop charts. The song became a number one hit in the American Rythmic Top 40 charts. The song was also featured in the 2005 comedy Virgo (40), Male, Seeking ... to hear.
The two guitar solos in the song are by Dwight Sills.
Music video
The music video was directed by Matthew Rolston , and it was shot in a brothel . The male performers in the music video play prostitutes , and Left-Eye is dressed as a pimp . One of the male prostitutes plays Boris Kodjoe .
There are three versions of the music video with the titles "sexy", "sexier" and "sexiest". One of the music videos was labeled offensive because of its suggestive content, as the guitarist takes off Chilli's pants in one scene .
