Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad is a tactical shooter and the successor to Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41–45 . It was released on September 14, 2011. It plays in the war against the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1945 , especially at the time of the Battle of Stalingrad .

The game has a multiplayer mode in which the interaction within small military units (mainly in a group framework ) is in the foreground. An internet connection and a valid Steam account are required to play.

In Red Orchestra, the developers try to convey the most realistic gameplay possible. For example, there is no HUD crosshair available to the player, as found in many other games , but only the respective sighting device of the weapon used by the player , which is based on the original models . A HUD health display, which is otherwise common in many games of the genre, is also missing. Many of the 3D models implemented in the game (especially armored vehicles and the player characters ) have hit zones .

Control is typical for the genre using a keyboard and mouse.

Release

The original release date of August 30, 2011 could not be met by Tripwire, the reason given by the developer is that they are still working on the fine-tuning. The release was postponed first to September 3rd and finally to September 13th (STEAM). After another brief postponement, the game was released on September 14, 2011 and is available in Germany as a download version via Steam and since December 2011 also as a boxed version. On September 16, 2011, a boxed version was released for the English-speaking world.
