San Vicente is a town in the Santa Cruz department in the lowlands of the South American Andean state Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

After the provincial capital San Ignacio de Velasco, San Vicente is the most populous place in the canton of San Ignacio de Velasco in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) San Ignacio in the province of Velasco . The village is located at an altitude of 270  m directly south of the Bolivian border with Brazil .

San Vicente is located in the Bolivian lowlands on the edge of the South American Pantanal , a largely untouched wetland in the Bolivian- Brazilian border area.

The region's climate is a semi-humid climate of the warm tropics . The monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly over the course of the year between 21 ° C in June and 26.6 ° C in October (see climate diagram San Ignacio), while between September and March they are almost constantly above 25 ° C. The annual mean temperature is 24.5 ° C.

The annual rainfall averages 1200 mm over many years. Three quarters of the precipitation falls in the rainy season from November to March, while in the dry season in the arid months of June to August less than 30 mm fall per month.

San Vicente is located 516 kilometers by road northeast of Santa Cruz , the capital of the department.

From Santa Cruz, the asphalted highway Ruta 4 leads 57 kilometers northwards via Warnes to Montero . A few kilometers north of Montero, it meets Ruta 10 , which leads over a distance of 648 kilometers to the east and crosses the towns of San Ramón , San Javier and Santa Rosa de la Roca as an asphalt road. The road is unpaved for the remaining 370 kilometers via San Ignacio de Velasco to San Vicente and on to the border town of San Matías .
