San Matías is a small town in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
San Matías is the central place of the canton of San Matías in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) San Matías and the administrative seat of the province Ángel Sandoval . The city is located at an altitude of 120 m eight kilometers west of the Bolivian border with Brazil .

San Matías is located on the eastern edge of the Bolivian lowlands in the wetland of the South American Pantanal and has a tropical climate with a balanced temperature profile.
The mean average temperature of the region is 27 ° C (see climate diagram San Matías), the monthly mean temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 24 ° C in June / July and 29 ° C in November / December. From Santa Cruz, the asphalted highway Ruta 4 leads 57 kilometers northwards via Warnes to Montero . A few kilometers north of Montero, it meets Ruta 10 , which leads over a distance of 648 kilometers to the east and crosses the towns of San Ramón , San Javier and Santa Rosa de Roca as an asphalt road. For the remaining 370 kilometers via San Ignacio de Velasco and San Vicente de la Frontera to San Matías , the road is unpaved, as well as further to the Brazilian city of Cáceres , with which there is also a bus connection.
