The Municipio San Matías is a district in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of San Matías is the only district in the province of Ángel Sandoval . It borders the Republic of Brazil to the north and east, the Germán Busch Province to the south, the Chiquitos Province to the southwest , and the José Miguel de Velasco Province to the northwest .

The central place of the district is San Matías in the extreme northeast of the municipality with 6,267 inhabitants ( 2012 census ).

The municipality of San Matías is located on the eastern edge of the Bolivian lowlands. The mean average temperature of the region is 26 ° C, the annual precipitation is around 1150 mm (see Roboré climate diagram). The region has a tropical climate with a balanced temperature profile, the monthly average temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 22 ° C in July and 28 ° C in December.
