Santo Corazón is a town in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Santo Corazón is the central place of the canton Santo Corazón in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) San Matías in the province Ángel Sandoval . The village is located at an altitude of 231  m near the Bolivian border with Brazil on the upper reaches of the Río Santo Corazón .

Santo Corazón is located on the eastern edge of the Bolivian lowlands in the wetland of the South American Pantanal and has a tropical climate with a balanced temperature profile.

The mean average temperature of the region is 27 ° C (see climate diagram San Matías), the monthly mean temperatures fluctuate only slightly between 24 ° C in June / July and 29 ° C in November / December. Annual precipitation is around 1250 mm, with the months June to September being arid with monthly precipitation of less than 50 mm , while the months December to February each have values ​​of around 200 mm.

From Santa Cruz, the asphalt national road Ruta 4 leads east via Cotoca , Pailón and San José de Chiquitos to Roboré and on to Puerto Suárez on the Brazilian border. Eight kilometers southeast of Roboré, a dirt road branches off from Ruta 4 in a north-easterly direction and after 14 km reaches Santiago de Chiquitos , from here the road leads a further 113 km through largely unpopulated bushland to the northeast to Santo Corazón .
