The Red Pike is a mountain in the Lake District , Cumbria , England . The Red Pike rises 826 m high north of the north end of Wast Water and must not be confused with the Red Pike located further north on Buttermere Lake.
The summit of the Red Pike is narrow and elongated. To the east, the mountain drops steeply over numerous rocky outcrops to the Mosedale valley. The summit connects to a mountain ridge in the north , which continues to the west over the directly neighboring Scoat Fell to the Haycock and on which one reaches the summit of the Pillar to the east . To the south, the summit drops over the Yewbarrow to Wast Water.
Opportunities for ascent to the Red Pike are available from Wast Water, which can be reached by road, either via the Yewbarrow or along the Over Beck . The summit can also be reached directly from there along the Nether Beck and the Scoat Tarn .
The Mosedale Beck and the Black Beck arise on the eastern flank of the Red Pike.
