Guarda Reformed Church
The Reformed Church in Guarda in the Lower Engadine in Canton Graubünden is a Grade II listed Evangelical - Reformed church .
History and equipment
The church was built in 1483. Even in the pre-Reformation period, about a decade later, the cross-vaulted choir , which branches off slightly asymmetrically from the nave, was enlarged . The church tower, which is striking with its pointed helmet, adjoins the northeast of the facade . The interior of the church is characterized by an expansive gallery , a bulbous pulpit without a sound cover , windows from 1933 and an organ from 1970.
Church organization
Guarda, who accepted the Reformation under Philipp Gallicius , maintained a pastoral community with Lavin for centuries at a common parish office . At the beginning of the 20th century, Guarda and Lavin were looked after by Ardez and Zernez . Since January 1st 2016 Guarda has been part of a merged parish Ardez - Ftan - Guarda. The parish belongs to Colloquium VIII Engiadina Bassa - Val Müstair within the Evangelical Reformed Regional Church of Graubünden .
