The Reformed Church in Hinterrhein in the Rhine forest is an Evangelical - Reformed church under the monument of the canton of Grisons .

History and equipment

The Lords of Sax-Misox donated their church, which was under the patronage of Petrus , to the collegiate monastery in San Vittore im Misox in 1219 . In doing so, they established a connection between the Hinterrhein and the Italian- speaking southern Graubünden valley that lasted until the Reformation . With the acceptance of the new faith, Hinterrhein sought a connection to Splügen .

The historically particularly valuable baptismal font in front of the inner entrance door of the church goes back to the time of the medieval Walser hike and the first settlement in Graubünden. The interior of the church is dominated by a high pulpit with a sound cover and a baptismal font in the choir , which also serves as a communion table. The hardly plastered church tower with a single-storey bell house has a flat dome .

Church organization

The Evangelical Reformed Church of Graubünden runs Hinterrhein as the preaching place of the Rheinwald pastoral community within the Colloquium II Schams-Avers-Rheinwald-Moesa .
