Reformed Church Kilchberg
The Reformed Church Kilchberg is a country church in Kilchberg in the canton of Zurich, first mentioned in 1248 . The building that gives the place its name is on the top of the Zimmerberg .
Exterior
The massive Romanesque church tower dates from 1240. The nave and choir are essentially late Gothic , but were significantly changed during several renovations during the Baroque period . In 1921 the nave was extended with an extension with a vestibule in the neo-baroque style on the west side.
inner space
A non-vaulted stucco ceiling was put in in place of the late Gothic wooden ceiling in 1758 and changed in 1778. The carved seating dates back to 1707. The baroque pulpit , which is also artistically carved, dates from 1737 . In the Gothic polygonal choir there is a late Gothic tabernacle and a Metzler organ from 2007. The colored glass windows in the western extension from 1921 are by Augusto Giacometti .
Pastor Eduard Schweingruber preached here from 1942 to 1964.

reception
The bells of the Kilchberg Church are mentioned in a poem by Conrad Ferdinand Meyers:
- requiem
Wandering in the evening sun
When a village lost its rays,
its darkness complains to the others
With familiar tones.
Another little bell was silent
on the heights until the end.
Now it is beginning to weigh,
listen, my Kilchberg is ringing now!
