Reformed Church Teufen
The reformed church in Teufen AR is a baroque church building by Hans Ulrich Grubenmann .
history
The village received its first church in 1479. In 1774, the then famous local master builder Hans Ulrich Grubenmann was awarded the contract for a new building. The project was realized from 1776 to 1779. In addition to the Wädenswil church and the Trogen church , the monumental building is one of Grubenmann's main works.
Exterior
The building has a wide nave and a recessed polygonal choir closure . A mighty 65 meter high tower with a relatively filigree pointed helmet adjoins it on the north side. Ground-level galleries were added to the north and west facades .
Interior
The broad nave is spanned by a basket arch vault. As with all of his buildings, Grubenmann's roof construction is based on a sophisticated bridge construction technique that enables him to span large spaces without supports. The ceiling and stitch caps are fitted with light-looking rococo stucco work , which presumably came from Peter Anton Moosbrugger . The painted wooden pulpit is on the south side of the choir arch .
The interior is flooded with light through high arched windows. Two rococo - skylights illuminate the gallery on the west side. There is an organ from Metzler Orgelbau from 1960. It has 34 registers on three manuals and a pedal .
