The Refuge Albert 1er is an alpine refuge in the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc section of the Club Alpin Français . It consists of a wooden hut from 1930, which is now used as a winter hut, and a newer stone building directly above, which is cultivated in summer. The hut is named after King Albert I of Belgium, who opened it on August 30, 1930. The stone building was built in 1959.

The hut lies above the lateral moraine of the Glacier du Tour , via which the ascent to the hut takes place. The valley location is Le Tour , on the one hand a path connects it with the lower end of the lateral moraine (height difference 1300 meters); on the other hand, a cable car and a chairlift can be taken to the Col de Balme , from which a path leads to the upper part of the lateral moraine (difference in altitude 500 meters).

The hut is the base for climbing the Aiguille du Tour and the Aiguille du Chardonnet . The transition to Cabane du Trient ( 3170  m ) in the Swiss part of the Mont-Blanc massif leads as a glacier hike over the Glacier du Tour up to the Col du Tour saddle and on over the glacier basin Plateau de Trient .

The hut was fundamentally renovated from September 2012 to spring 2014, with an additional floor being added to the stone building to accommodate more guests. The cost of the renovation was estimated at 2.5 million euros.
