history

The Lords of Regendorf, initially referred to as "Lords of Regeldorf", were first mentioned at the beginning of the 13th century. In 1490 Hans Regeldorfer zu Regeldorf and Wolfsegg is entered in the land table. In 1699, Regendorf Castle and Hofmark passed to the Barons of Oberndorff. The municipality of Regensdorf originated with the Bavarian municipality edict of 1818 and included the towns of Regensdorf and giants. The last remnants of the aristocracy were eliminated in 1848. On May 1, 1978, the municipalities of Regendorf and Zeitlarn were merged to form the municipality of Zeitlarn. The places of the former municipality of Regendorf are the only ones west of the rain river and are only connected to the other parts of the municipality by a bridge. This is one of the reasons why the community still differentiates between "Zeitlarnern" and "Regendorfern". As a suburban municipality, there has been strong growth in the last few decades.
