From small beginnings, the company was founded in 1810 by the grandfather of the later owners Ernst and Alois Regenhart. In 1819 it was expanded through a connection with the Raymann family, who had started production in Freiwaldau in 1822. Awarded the highest honors in Vienna as early as 1839 and at all subsequent major exhibitions, the company was granted the proper state license as early as 1845 , with the right to use the imperial eagle and the title "kk priv." In 1855 she was awarded the distinction of being entrusted with deliveries for the imperial court, whereupon in 1859 the owners were awarded the title "kk court tableware suppliers". In 1860, Emperor Franz Joseph I personally visited the Regenhart & Raymann linen and damask weaving mill in Freiwaldau.

The introduction of Irish finishing machines also made it possible to combat foreign competition in shirt linen and handkerchiefs. The mechanical linen weaving mill established in 1864 , the first in Austria, and the addition of a second, large factory in 1876 expanded the company to such an extent that around 1900 it employed around 2,500 permanent workers and around 1,000 people in domestic secondary employment. The company's products enjoyed a good reputation at home and abroad. a. also presented at various world exhibitions, for example in Philadelphia in 1876 .

After Alois Regenhart's death, his widow Sophie Regenhart and Adolph Raymann jointly owned the company and were awarded the title of purveyor to the court. The following owners were Ernst and Alois Regenhart. They were later joined by Oskar and Erwin Regenhart as well as Erwin Weiß and Dr. Karl Hielle as the owner, all of whom also received the title of purveyor to the court.

To charities the company had in addition to a health insurance fund , whose contributions have been borne by the entrepreneur alone, a pension institute for employees and cash for old-age and disability support workers, which were administered by the members, and in 1900 had assets of more than 1,300,000 Austrian crowns decreed.

A house weaving facility was handed over to the Vienna Technical Museum by the Regenhart & Raymann company in 1916 , where it is still located today as an exhibit on the history of weaving.
