Government of Aruba

The government of Aruba has consisted of the Council of Ministers (Cabinet) since 1986, which consists of seven ministers and the Prime Minister. Before Aruba became independent , the island belonged to the administration of the Netherlands Antilles .

The first own government was the Henny Eman cabinet . The government and its members determine the country's politics and are controlled by parliament. The government works with the Dutch king, who is represented by a governor. There is also an authorized minister nominated by the Aruba government. He is based in the Netherlands. This minister represents the interests of Aruba in the Netherlands and is a member of the National Council of Ministers of the Netherlands. Aruba has no secretaries of state.
