Reginald Herbert Morris (born July 4, 1918 in London-Hillingdon , United Kingdom , † January 8, 2004 in Toronto-Scarborough , Canada ) was a British cameraman for North American (USA, Canada) films.

Live and act

The younger brother of the famous cameraman Oswald Morris began his professional career in 1935 in his native England and worked his way up from camera assistant to simple cameraman. In these functions, Morris was involved for several decades in such important works as " Ausgestossen " (1946), " Moby Dick " (1954), " The Fox " (1967) and " The Trials " (1973). As early as 1953, he was working alongside his more experienced colleague Jack Asher at a low-cost British production company as co-chief cameraman. Morris then had to be content with the photography of short documentaries for around ten years (from 1955 to 1965). The Londoner, who has now lived in Canada since the early 1960s, was only late in getting the position of chief cameraman for feature films.

Until he retired into private life in 1989, Reginald Morris designed the optics of numerous B-films , including several horror strips and thrillers in the 1970s. For the large-scale production of Superman , whose photographic director was Morris' compatriot Geoffrey Unsworth in 1977 , Reginald Morris was only allowed to photograph those sequences that were created in the Canadian province of Alberta . In the early 1980s, Morris was nominated three times for the Canadian Genie Award . Towards the end of his career he was increasingly engaged for conventional television productions, including the last two with Hollywood veteran Loretta Young in the lead role ("Merry Christmas, Mr. Kingsley", "Spider in the Web"). In the last years of his life, Reginald H. Morris was marked by Parkinson's disease .
