history

Reibitz am Leinebach was first mentioned on June 6, 1222 in the Old Sorbian form Ryvica . Belonging to the Margravial Meissnian district of Delitzsch is mentioned as early as 1350 , which is mentioned around 1445 as the electoral Saxon care of Delitzsch and from 1503 as the Delitzsch office in the Leipzig district of the Electorate of Saxony. The manor in Reibitz was first mentioned in 1669 . It was owned by the Vitzthum von Eckstädt family from 1670 until it was expropriated in 1945 .

Through the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , Reibitz came to Prussia in 1815 and was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony in 1816. In the course of the district reform in the GDR in 1952, Reibitz was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Leipzig district.

Reibitz was incorporated into Löbnitz on November 1, 1993. With this, the place came to the district of Delitzsch in 1994 and in 2008 to the district of North Saxony .

Attractions

Post mill

Post mill : The historic post mill originally stood in Werbelin and was built there in 1844. It was used as a grinding mill until 1950, then as a grist mill until around 1960. When the entire village was given up in 1990 for the Delitzsch Süd-West open-cast lignite mine, the Delitzsch district acquired the mill, had it dismantled and rebuilt true to the original in 1994/95 on the site of the Reibitz school camp. The now reconstructed and functional mill has been used as a tourist attraction and for educational purposes ever since.
