The Reifenhäuser Group is a German company specializing in the manufacture of extrusion systems for processing thermoplastics . Users produce blown films, cast films, calender films and nonwovens on machines and systems from Reifenhäuser. The global group of companies has its headquarters in Troisdorf in North Rhine-Westphalia and is 100% family-owned. Today the group is led by the third generation of the brothers Bernd and Ulrich Reifenhäuser.
history
The Reifenhäuser company was founded in 1911 as a small forge by Anton Reifenhäuser. Up until the Second World War, the company was a locksmith's shop. After the currency reform, the sons Hans and Fritz Reifenhäuser, the second generation of the family, began building screw presses. The Troisdorf Dynamit Nobel was the customer from the very beginning . The first Reifenhäuser extruder for plastics processing was presented in 1948.
On January 1, 1958, the company was converted into a limited partnership . Reifenhäuser internationalized itself with 35 foreign agencies and an export share of the total production of 54 percent (1958). After the maximum capacity was built up on the traditional premises, a production facility was built in Sieglar in 1959 . Reiloy Metall was founded in 1971 as an expert in highly wear-resistant screws and cylinders . From 1973 the spunbond technology was developed, which was introduced to the market after 12 years.
In 1992 Bernd and Ulrich Reifenhäuser were appointed to the management. Reimotec was founded in 2000 as a separate company for ribbons and monofilaments. In 2004 a holding structure was created. In 2006, the film activities were bundled in Reifenhäuser Extrusion. In 2008 Reifenhäuser built a new research and development center for around 30 million euros, which was expanded in 2013 with an investment of 20 million euros.
In 2009, Reifenhäuser took over the Kiefel Extrusion group of companies from the Brückner Group , which in 2008 achieved sales of forty million euros with two hundred employees. In the case of blown film lines, Reifenhäuser thus rose to become an important supplier from Europe. Today, Kiefel Extrusion operates as Reifenhäuser Blown Film GmbH based in Worms.
The two business fields of Reifenhäuser Extrusion were split up in 2012 into the two independent companies Reifenhäuser CastSheet Coating and Reifenhäuser Extrusion Technology.
Reifenhäuser Digital was founded in 2017 to focus on Industry 4.0 topics .
In 2019, Plamex Maschinenbau GmbH in Kelberg , which manufactures extrusion systems for medical applications, was acquired.
In 2008 the group generated 400 million euros with more than a thousand employees. In 2010 there were a total of 1200 employees, 850 of them in Troisdorf.
