Reimer Gronemeyer

Reimer Gronemeyer (born July 4, 1939 in Hamburg ) is a German theologian , sociologist and university professor .

Life

Gronemeyer first studied Protestant theology in Hamburg, Heidelberg and Edinburgh . In 1971 he received his doctorate with a thesis on Paul’s letters and was then pastor in Hamburg. He then studied sociology and received his doctorate in 1973 with a thesis on questions of corporate and social participation. Gronemeyer was an assistant at the theological faculties in Mainz and Bochum .

Since 1975 he has been Professor of Sociology at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . In his research he deals with the questions of aging in society. Since the mid-1990s, his focus has been on dementia , the hospice movement and palliative care . He is also involved in a number of associations and foundations on these issues.

Reimer Gronemeyer is married to the educational scientist Marianne Gronemeyer .
