Reinhard Brückner (born May 5, 1955 in Braunschweig ) is a German chemist and university professor.

life and work

Brückner studied chemistry from 1974 to 1980 at the University of Munich , where he graduated in 1980. In 1984 he also received his doctorate there , with Rolf Huisgen as his mentor. From 1984 to 1985 he was a postdoctoral fellow with Paul Wender at Stanford University (USA). In 1989 he completed his habilitation at the University of Marburg in Reinhard W. Hoffmann's group . From 1989 to 1990 he was a substitute for a C4 professorship in Marburg. From 1989 to 1990 Brückner was a C3 professor in Würzburg. In 1992 he accepted the call to a C4 professorship in Göttingen and in 1998 moved to the University of Freiburg . He was a DFG expert reviewer from 2000 to 2007, at the Liebig Association for Organic Chemistry Deputy Director from 2000 to 2003; Board member from 2004 to 2007, at the New Journal of Chemistry Associate Editor from 1998 to 2000 and at the GDCh Study Reform Commission from 1997 to 1999.

Brückner had visiting professorships:

Brückner conducts research in the field of total synthesis , Wittig rearrangements , butenolides and natural product chemistry . He currently teaches at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg im Breisgau .
