Reinhard Gassner

Reinhard Gassner (born March 10, 1950 ) is an Austrian graphic designer . Atelier Gassner's projects are cross-media in the field of hereditary and visual communication .

Life

Between 1964 and 1968 Reinhard Gassner completed an apprenticeship as a repro photographer and producer of print products, followed in 1969 by an internship in his brother's studio. In 1971 he opened a design office in Feldkirch, Vorarlberg and, together with his wife Ruth Gassner, set up a studio from 1987 in the immediate vicinity of his place of residence, the Ruhwiesen estate in Schlins.

In addition to commissioned work, Reinhard Gassner dealt with font development and font cultures in different epochs and countries. In the 1990s he investigated typographic phenomena in free design series using the word “text” as an example .

In addition to ongoing commissioned work, Gassner has worked internationally as a curator, lecturer and author. From 1996 to 1999 he worked as an external consultant on the conception of the InterMedia course at the Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences in Dornbirn. There he was head of the "Design" department and was jointly responsible for the design courses.

Gassner is a member of the Austrian professional association DesignAustria and since 2000 of the AGI Alliance Internationale Graphique .

In 2018 his daughter Andrea Gassner took over the studio and relocated it to the city center of Feldkirch.
