Reinhard Kammler

Reinhard Kammler (born December 17, 1954 in Augsburg ), founder of the Augsburger Domsingknaben , is a German church musician, organist, vocal coach, conductor and choir director. From 1978 to 1995 he was the cathedral organist and from 1995 to 2019 the cathedral music director at the Augsburg Cathedral. He headed the Augsburger Domsingknaben from its foundation in 1976 until the end of 2019.

Career

After graduating from high school, Reinhard Kammler first studied Catholic church music, organ and singing at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory in his hometown. He then graduated from the State University of Music in Munich with an artistic diploma. His teachers included Karl Maureen and Klemens Schnorr (organ), Franz Kelch and Lydia Buschmann (vocals) and Diethard Hellmann (choir direction). As a scholarship holder of the German Music Council , Kammler traveled to Cambridge (England) to visit Stephen Cleobury ( King's College Choir ) and George Guest (St. John's College Choir) and to Montserrat (Spain) to Ireneu Segarra ( Escolania de Montserrat ).

In addition to his liturgical obligations at the cathedral, Reinhard Kammler gave sacred and secular concerts in Germany, in numerous European countries, in Canada, Japan, China, the USA, Ecuador and South Africa. In Augsburg, with his Augsburger Domsingknaben and the Residenz Chamber Orchestra in Munich, he established a continuous tradition of performing the oratorios by Johann Sebastian Bach , over four decades realized numerous concert and sound productions with the Bavarian Radio , and well over 20 records and CD recordings with the labels " Deutsche Harmonia Mundi ", "ars musici" and " Deutsche Grammophon " and made guest appearances with the opera repertoire for boy soloists.
