Reinhard Kannonier

Reinhard Kannonier (born November 11, 1947 in Spittal an der Drau ) is an Austrian musicologist , journalist, university professor and former rector of the Linz Art University .

Life

Reinhard Kannonier studied German, philosophy and musicology at the University of Graz and then completed a doctorate in politics and journalism in Salzburg.

In 1980 he became a university assistant at the Institute for Contemporary History at the University of Linz , where he became head of the institute in 1998. He was also the scientific director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Social and Cultural History together with Rudolf G. Ardelt and Helmut Konrad . From 1992 to 1993 he worked at the European University Institute in Florence .

From 1987 to 1990, Kannonier was Margareta Wöss's successor as head of music management at the Brucknerhaus in Linz .

From 2000, Kannonier was rector of the Art University Linz, his contract ran until September 2019. In February 2019, Brigitte Hütter was elected as his successor from October 1, 2019.

He is a member of the SPÖ and lives in Linz.
