Reinhard Kreissl

Reinhard Kreissl (* 1952 in Munich ) is a German sociologist and publicist . He lives in Vienna and Munich.

Life

Kreissl studied sociology at the University of Munich , the University of California in San Diego , the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Frankfurt am Main . In 1978 he obtained his degree in sociology from the University of Munich, received his doctorate in 1985 from the University of Frankfurt am Main and completed his habilitation in 1998 at the University of Wuppertal . He was active in research and teaching at various universities in Germany, the USA and Australia. Between 2012 and 2015 he was Scientific Director of the Institute for Legal and Criminal Sociology (IRKS) in Vienna. In 2015 he founded the Vienna Center for Societal Security (VICESSE), of which he acts as director.

Kreissl's work focuses on the sociology of law, the sociology of deviant behavior and social control, scientific (scientific) sociology and social science aspects of the cognitive and neurosciences .

As a publicist, he regularly writes articles in the features section of the Süddeutsche Zeitung and works as a political columnist for Deutschlandfunk Kultur .

Reinhard Kreissl is a member of the board of the political party academy of the Peter Pilz list .
