Reinhold Budde

Reinhold Budde (* 1950 in Cloppenburg ) is a German graphic designer and artist.

life and work

education

Reinhold Budde did an apprenticeship as a typesetter in Cloppenburg from 1967 to 1970 and then worked as a photo setter in Hanover. From 1973 to 1974 Budde studied layout technology at the teaching institute for the printing industry in Cologne. From 1974 to 1978 he studied design in Hamburg. Budde worked there as a teaching assistant. After graduating, he worked as a designer at the Institute for Packing Design in Hamburg. Between 1983 and 1995, Budde developed corporate design and packaging design guidelines as a freelance designer for companies and agencies at home and abroad. Budde has been working as a freelance artist since 1996. He lives and works in Bremen.

Reinhold Budde's works combine painting, sculpture and design. Since 1990 Budde has been working with monochrome image processes that are shown to advantage in various media. When painting on Aludibond , both the front and the back become the carrier material. These works are attached at a slight distance from the wall, so that they reflect their respective colors on the wall. Characteristic of his painting from 2006 on is the inclusion of the back of the support, the careful removal of the panel painting, the expansion of the color palette.

Budde uses materials from the hardware store, e.g. aluminum profile strips. Such work consists z. B. from two narrow profiles that are mounted horizontally with a small distance on the wall. The top and front are black, the bottom is painted in color. The procedure is reversed for the second profile. In this way, a resonance chamber, comparable to a sound body, is formed between the two profiles. In works that have been created in recent years, he experiments with profile strips that are lined up in an arrangement of four, six, eight and more as supports between the floor and the ceiling.
