The Reisa River ( Northern Sami : Ráiseatnu , kvenisch : Raisinjoki ) is a river in Northern Norway north of the Arctic Circle , which over the Reisafjord in the Norwegian Sea opens.

geography

The Reisaelva arises in the high mountains of the Reisa National Park from the source rivers Raisædno ( Ráiseatnu ), which rises from the lake Ráisjávri , and Njallajåkka ( Njállajohka ) with the source lake Sáitejávri . Then it flows from the southeast to the northwest. In the upper reaches it plunges into the depths over several waterfalls, in the middle and lower reaches lake-like impoundments and slow flow stretches alternate. Most of the Reisaelva flows through an untouched valley. Shortly after the town of Storslett on the European route E6 , it flows into the Reisafjord .

leisure

The Reisaelva is a popular salmon fishing river. It is ideal for canoeing tours lasting several days.
