The equestrian statue of Friedrich Wilhelm IV. Is an equestrian statue in honor of Friedrich Wilhelm IV. , King of Prussia .

The bronze picture was created between 1875 and 1886 by Alexander Calandrelli based on a design by Gustav Blaese . It is located on the steps of the Alte Nationalgalerie on Museum Island in Berlin . Friedrich Wilhelm IV. Seated on a striding horse is shown as a patron of the arts . The allegorical figures of religion , art (poetry) , history (history) and philosophy are located on the four corners of the base .

The equestrian statue of Friedrich Wilhelm IV stands in a row with the other monuments of the Hohenzollern rulers in Berlin, namely Andreas Schlüter's equestrian statue of the Great Elector or Christian Daniel Rauch's equestrian statue of Frederick the Great as well as the destroyed statues of Rudolf Maison by Friedrich III. (formerly in front of the Bode Museum ) or Albert Wolffs by Friedrich Wilhelm III. (formerly in front of the Altes Museum ).
