Rembau ( Minangkabau : Daerah Rembau , Arabic رمباو- Jawi ) is a Daerah in the state of Negeri Sembilan in Malaysia .
geography
The district is located southeast of the capital Seremban, halfway to Tampin on Main Road 1 . A railway line and the AH 2 ( Lebuhraya Tarat Selatan ) expressway also run through the area. The main town of the same name, Rembau, is located between the mountains Bukit Janjut ( ⊙ 262 m ), Bukit Bintongan ( ⊙ 839 m ) and Bukit Lechak ( ⊙ 814 m ).
Culture
The matrilineal and matrilocal culture ( adat perpatih ) of the Minangkabau people is still firmly anchored in the district.
administration
In Rembau, the old ruler who was formerly known as Penghulu still rules . Today the title is Yang Teramat Mulia Undang Luak Rembau . He is on the electoral body for the Yamtuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, alongside the rulers of Sungai Ujong , Jelebu , Johol and Tampin .
