Renate Zimmer

Renate Zimmer (born October 24, 1947 in Sinspelt , Rhineland-Palatinate ) is a German educational scientist with a focus on "early childhood" and professor of sports science at the University of Osnabrück . She headed the Institute for Sports and Exercise Science until March 31, 2016 and is also director of the Lower Saxony Institute for Early Childhood Education and Development (nifbe) . Life

After graduating from high school, Renate Zimmer studied sport at the German Sport University in Cologne and at the University Institute for Physical Education at the University of Mainz and graduated as a " sports teacher ".

From 1968 to 1972 she was a full-time teacher at the State St. Willibrord Gymnasium Bitburg and at the elementary school Bitburg. From 1972 to 1976 she completed a second degree at the University of Education in Rhineland-Palatinate , Dept. Worms, with the degree: Diploma - educational scientist (focus on "early childhood").

She began her academic career with a position as a research assistant at the Lower Saxony University of Education, Hildesheim department.
