Renaud de Vendôme (* before 991; † 1017 ) was Bishop of Paris from 991 to 1017 and Count of Vendôme and Paris from 1005 to 1017.

family

Renaud came from the French Burchardinger family and was the son of Count Burchard the Venerable and Elisabeth Le Riche .

Life

In 988 he became Hugo Capet's chancellor , who a little later also made him bishop. With Robert II's accession to the throne , he was ousted from power and his influence in the Privy Council declined. He withdrew more and more into the Vendômois. In 1005 he followed his father as Count of Vendôme and Paris.

After his death, Paris, which his father had received from Hugo Capet, fell back to the crown as a settled fiefdom, while Vendôme went to Bodo von Nevers from the Monceaux family , the son-in-law of his sister Elisabeth and Count Fulko III. Nerra of Anjou .
