The Renault Ellypse (project name Z13 ) is a concept car from the French company Renault , which was presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2002.

engine

The Ellypse is powered by a 1.2 liter 16V with 98 PS (72 kW) and offers a maximum torque of 200 Nm. The common rail injection system has been improved with piezo-electronic injection nozzles and now delivers a pressure of 2,000 bar. It is shifted by a revised automatic transmission. According to the manufacturer, the Ellypse should only consume 85 g CO 2 / km and 3.2 liters of diesel / 100 km. The CO 2 values are permanently recorded by a four-way catalytic converter and warn you if the values deviate significantly. In addition, a 12 kW starter generator helps to keep consumption low. This generator can replace the diesel engine on short trips.

innovation

Solar cells that feed the on-board network are distributed over the entire roof . The doors on the passenger side have a special feature. Despite the lack of a B-pillar , the doors can be opened once in the conventional way and once like wing doors. In the interior there is a wave-shaped line. In the middle of the front there is an instrument panel with two displays, where the driver and passengers can see all the important data and operate the air conditioning, radio, etc.

Thanks to the new starter generator with 42 volts instead of the previous 12 volts, you can accommodate more electrical consumers in the car. In addition, a new "X-by-Wire" technology is used, which replaces the hydraulic systems and now uses servomotors for the power steering and the brakes. This means that there are fewer liquids in the ellipse, which reinforces the principle (environmental protection) of this car.
