Rendezvous with Death (original title: Golden Rendezvous ) is a 1977 thriller based on the novel of the same name by Alistair MacLean .
action
The former merchant ship SS Campari, converted into a cruise ship, cruises with its passengers in the Caribbean . But even before sailing, strange events pile up. At first it was possible to set sail with a delay due to sabotage , after which a member of the crew disappears without a trace.
Eventually the ship is hijacked and taken over with some criminals previously disguised as passengers. The crew is captured, including First Officer Johnny Carter, who claims to be injured. It turns out that they are not interested in the SS Campari ; rather, their destination is a freighter loaded with gold. They also succeeded in smuggling a stolen atomic bomb on board, with which they are planning large-scale blackmail.
Johnny Carter manages to break free and thwart the criminals' plans, saving the lives of crew and passengers.
criticism
"Insecure and superficially staged, the brutal film hardly reaches the tension of the novel."
