René Pranz (born September 4, 1985 in Vienna ) is an Austrian foil fencer . Pranz achieved his greatest success to date on April 17, 2016 when he qualified for the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro .

biography

René Pranz is a sports soldier in the Austrian Armed Forces . In 2005 he graduated from the Sportrealgymnasium for competitive athletes in Maria Enzersdorf with high school diploma . Since 2011 Pranz has been studying business administration at the Institute for Management . In 2006 he managed to take 3rd place in the team competition at the World Cup in Cairo . At the European Fencing Championships 2010 in Leipzig , he finished 5th in the team competition with the Austrian team. In the same year he succeeded in conquering the 2nd place at the World Cup in Montreal . At the European Fencing Championships 2011 in Sheffield Pranz finished 7th.

Pranz is Austrian national champion in 2009, 2012, 2013 and 2014 and 11-time team national champion.
