The Pensioners Party Germany (short name: RENTNER ) was a small German party that was founded in 2002.

Program

The program of the Pensioners Party Germany concentrated on the policy fields of old-age provision , health and education . It was aimed at securing retirement for all generations and maintaining the state's social policy. In the area of old-age provision, the demand for a reform of the statutory pension insurance was one of the key messages. In addition to the elimination of the contribution assessment limits and pension formulas as well as double taxation of the statutory pension, an independent self-administration of the pension insurance was offered as a solution.

history

The party was founded in 2002 by the then 69-year-old Horst Schüler in Kassel . In contrast to the already existing party Die Grauen , Schüler and the Pensioner Party did not deal with age discrimination , but focused on the topic of pension insurance .

The party stood for the first time in the 2009 European elections. With 212,501 votes, the party came to a share of 0.8%. Although the Federal Constitutional Court declared the five percent hurdle in European elections to be unconstitutional in 2012 , the distribution of seats was not changed retrospectively, which is why the Pensioners Party was not given a mandate. However, it has jumped the hurdle of party funding . In the 2009 Bundestag election , the pensioner party achieved 0.1%.

In 2009 and 2010 a merger was negotiated between the Pensioners Party and the competing Pensioners' Party (RRP). Talks about unification were also held with the German Democratic Party (2004) (ddp) and Allianz der Mitte (AdM). In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in May 2010, the RENTNER were supported by the RRP. In the summer of 2010, the federal party conventions of both parties wanted to resolve the merger, but the merger did not materialize. As a result, there was an increase in the conversion of some entire associations from the pensioner party to the RRP and vice versa.

In autumn 2013 there were internal disputes, so that from November 2013 there were two federal executive boards, each of which considered itself the legitimate executive board. The chairmen were Rainer Liermann and Ronald Harder. For the European elections in Germany in 2014 , both groups submitted state lists, but both were unable to collect the necessary support signatures. Eventually the group around Liermann renamed itself the party for pensioners and families .

In April 2014 Günter Pfeiffer became the new party chairman .

elections

The Pensioners Party Germany competed in the 2009 European elections in Germany . It received 212,113 votes there and thus achieved a result of 0.8%.

For the 2009 federal elections , the party entered the federal states of Schleswig-Holstein , Hamburg and North Rhine-Westphalia with state lists; in Bavaria it failed due to a lack of support signatures. The party also took part in the 2009 state elections in Schleswig-Holstein .

Both lists of the Pensioners' Party Germany were denied participation in the European elections in Germany 2014 by the federal electoral committee on March 14, 2014.
