Repent is a Bavarian thrash metal band from Lauf an der Pegnitz , which was founded in 1992.

history

The band was founded towards the end of 1992 by drummer Michael Müller and guitarist Philip Rath. At first the band only played cover versions . The first two demos followed in 1997 and 1998. Both demos were very well received in the trade press.

In the fall of 2000, the band recorded their debut album Escape from Reality . This was followed by concerts throughout Germany with bands such as Slough Feg , Extreme Noise Terror , Disbelief , Twisted Tower Dire , Soul Demise , Kaamos and Legacy of Hate .

The second album Disciple of Decline was released in November 2004 via Autopsy Stench Records .

In December 2005 the band played two concerts, after which singer Serkan Sanli, guitarist Andreas Naucke Andi, drummer Michael Müller, and in December 2009 bassist Stefan Kuhr left the band. Over the next four years the band was looking for a stable line-up.

In 2010 the band released a demo with the new line-up.

style

The band plays classic Thrash Metal, which corresponds to that from the San Francisco Bay Area . In her English-language biography she mentions Slayer , Metallica's early works, Exodus , Forbidden , Sacred Reich , Heathen and Nuclear Assault as influences, in the German-language Slayer, Exodus, Forbidden, Sacred Reich and Overkill . Reini von Stormbringer compares the music with that of Violence , Atrophy , Testament zu The Legacy Times and Forbidden.
