Reto Salimbeni (born July 28, 1958 in Thalwil , Canton of Zurich ) is a Swiss director , screenwriter and film producer .

Reto Salimbeni is a feature and advertising film director, u. a. known for Urban Safari, what's wrong with my men? and one way . Salimbeni grew up in Zurich, Switzerland and Bologna, Italy. Salimbeni graduated from commercial school in Zurich in 1979 and immediately began his film career.

TV series

Mack & Moxy

In 2015, Reto Salimbeni joined the Mack & Moxy team as Director and Associate Producer, under the leadership of Brahm Wenger (Executive Producer). In collaboration with America's leading non-profit organizations (Red Cross, Presidents Council of Fitness, etc.) a groundbreaking show for children was produced with Mack & Moxy. In a playful form, with the use of live action, puppets, robots and 3D animation, topics such as: B. Education, nature, wildlife, the joy of helping and emergency preparedness are dealt with. Mack & Moxy premiered on February 20, 2016 on American Public Television and Netflix.

Reto Salimbeni started out as a production manager for various television productions. At the age of 24 he produced the television play "Ready for Murder" by Lesley Darbon (director: Eckehard von Itzenplitz) for Swiss television. In the same year Salimbeni shot a no-budget video for the rock band Trampolin. The video became the most played video of the year and opened the way for Salimbeni to the prestigious advertising film arena. Salimbeni has produced and directed over 700 commercials for well-known brands such as Nike, IKEA, MTV, VW, McDonald's, Chevron, Panasonic, UEFA and Pepsi. He has won over 80 international awards, including at the New York Festival, IAFF Cannes, Art Directors Club NY and the Art Directors Club Europe. His series for MTV “Headbanger” was nominated for the Grand Prix at the New York TV & Film Festival. The American trade magazine “Shoots” called his style “visual storytelling with a human twist”.

After establishing himself as an advertising director in Europe in the 1990s, he began working in the USA, shooting campaigns for leading agencies such as J. Walter Thompson and Foote, Cone & Belding from San Francisco. In 2001, Reto Salimbeni founded Manifesto Films with headquarters in Vancouver and branches in Zurich. In 2006 he shot the music video "Try again" for the British rock band Keane, in which Til Schweiger and Nora Tschirner also played.

His commercial song Move Your Füdli became a chart hit in 2006.

Urban Safari

As a writer and director, Salimbeni made this independent comedy in 1995 with Barry Pepper, Linda Kash and David Naughton. After a respectable theatrical release in Europe and the US, the film was sold in over 80 countries and distributed by Universal International Pictures.

In 2001 Salimbeni wrote and directed the family comedy for Bavaria and Pro 7, with Christian Tramitz , Thomas Heinze and Sidonie von Krosigk . The film was nominated for the “best German children's film”.

One way

In 2007 Salimbeni filmed his own screenplay One Way , a thriller drama. Til Schweiger , Michael Clarke Duncan, Lauren Lee Smith and Eric Roberts play the leading roles in this film. One Way was co-produced and distributed by Universal International Pictures.
