action

Miranda Wells is a small town nurse. She is about to become a surgical nurse and wants to buy a new house. Since she is single, her friend arranges a blind date for her with a man named Kevin.

On the day of the date, while she's still getting dressed, Miranda overhears someone on the porch. She opens the door, finds a man she thinks is Kevin, and invites him in. While she is still getting dressed in the bedroom, the man notices that boxes are being packed in the house. She tells him she wants to move and advises him that he is too early. He does not respond to her repeated requests to come back at the agreed time. Instead, he goes to the door and locks it. Then he attacks Miranda and rapes her. After he has left the house, the real Kevin comes, enters through the still slightly open door, finds Miranda injured in the kitchen and calls the police. Miranda is taken to the hospital and examined. The police show her photos of rapists and they can identify the perpetrator. It is a man named William Finn who is arrested immediately.

Miranda tries to go on living normally. Your real estate agent can no longer sell her house because no one wants to buy a house that has just been raped. While glazing a cake, Miranda notices a tremor in her right hand, which is why she can no longer work in surgery. She decides to write a letter to William in prison. When she sends the letter, she smiles.

She begins to change her life and her home; so she has shutters put on her windows. Her father Mitchell tries to fix a swing that her dead mother liked. Miranda objects that she just wants new things in her house, and they get into an argument.

Miranda's letter to William is always sent back to the sender. She always sends the letter again, finally receives the reply from William "You have won" and visits him in prison. He apologizes for what he did to her and she starts visiting him regularly. They flirt with each other when they visit. While in prison, William ill-treated his cellmate without the officers' knowledge and was eventually paroled.

In the meantime, Miranda also befriends her father's aggressive dog by feeding him treats. The dog gets sick, stops eating, and eventually dies.

After Williams is released, he sends Miranda flowers and makes plans to visit her. She lets him fix the porch of her house. The two continue flirting, but Miranda never lets him into the house. When William goes to the hardware store where Mitchell works, the latter recognizes him and rushes to Miranda's house to warn her that William has been released from prison. When he realizes that William was in the house, they argue again.

A day after work on the porch, William says he is unwell and asks to go to the bathroom. Miranda reluctantly agrees. When entering the house, he collapses. When he comes to, he finds himself tied to a bed in the basement. She admits she poisoned him with antifreeze in his lemonade; she also poisoned her father's dog and let her mother die. Then William passed out again when she pushed a surgical tray over. She will operate on him in the next few hours. When he wakes up, she makes him believe that she has amputated his left hand, mocks him with a wrong one and asks him what is important to him. He answers this question with "you". Then it turns out that she actually operated on his genitals.

The film ends with Miranda visiting her father and declaring that William will no longer come to her.
