Rhys Davies (writer)

Rhys Davies (born November 9, 1901 in Clydach Vale, Glamorganshire , † August 21, 1978 in London ) was a Welsh writer.

Life

Rhys Davies was born the son of a shopkeeper. He attended Porth Grammar School. From the early 1920s he lived in London as a freelance writer. In 1928 he visited Paris and Provence , followed by further trips abroad.

In 1968 he was appointed Officier of the Order of the British Empire . He wrote novels, short stories and essays . He has also written a musical libretto and an autobiography .
