The Riale Carecchio is an approximately 8 kilometer long left tributary of the Verzasca in the Swiss canton of Ticino , which flows through the Val Carecchio above Lavertezzo .

The river rises at about 1957 m above sea level. M. at Alpe Rognói between the peaks of Madone ( 2395 m above sea level ) and Poncione di Piotta ( 2440 m above sea level ). It initially flows northwest through the narrow and densely wooded valley, accompanied by a hiking trail on its right bank. It passes the abandoned Alp Monte della Valle and the abandoned settlement of Rodana , located on a foothill of the Pizzo d'Eus , both of which consist of stone houses. Shortly afterwards, near Cognera , it takes in the Agro , which is more than twice as water-rich, from the right and drains the Val d'Agro and Val Pincascia . Here he turns to the southwest and only a little later reaches the village of Lavertezzo, where he is at 521 m above sea level. M. opens into the Verzasca from the left.

The catchment area of the Riale Carecchio measures 44.51 square kilometers, of which 46.5% is wooded area , 43% unproductive area , 8.8% agricultural area, 1.5% water area and 0.1% settlement area.
